Brief History

6th Cavalry Regiment was organized late in 1863 using Davenport's Battalion State Cavalry as its nucleus. It was mustered into Confederate service in January, 1864. During February, 1865, it was consolidated with the 8th Mississippi Cavalry and surrendered in May. The field officers were Colonel Isham Harrison, Lieutenant Colonels Thomas C. Lipscomb and Thomas M. Nelson, and Major R.G. Brown. ^[1]
