The 84th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry was organized at McMinnville, Tennessee, in December, 1862. On March 8, 1863, the regiment was pronounced illegal by the War Department and lost its identity when united with the 28th Tennessee Infantry Regiment. 
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

- Company C - Captain W.L. Woods
- Company D - Captains Roysden Robinson - Some men from Putnam County.
