Monthly Class Schedule

All classes are held in the Training Room of the Family History Center. Please register in advance by calling the Brigham City Family History Center at 723-5995.


Monday, Jan 5 - 10:00 a.m. Scanning Workshop Michael Palmer
This class teaches how to use various technology in digitizing your family photos and documents to use in your own personal projects and ways to preserve precious documents and stories.

Thursday, Jan 8 - 6:00 p.m. Beginning Research Linda Peterson
Learn how to use Internet research sites as you begin your own Family History.

Saturday, Jan 10 - 10:00 a.m. Using FamilySearch Family Tree - Part 1 Susan LaVelle
This 3-week class will teach the fundamentals of using Family Tree.

Tuesday, Jan 13 - 10:00 a.m. Family History Through DNA Studies Julie Johnson
Julie has used DNA to further her family history. Learn how to use DNA in your family history research.

Tuesday, Jan 13 - 6:00 p.m. Solving Problems in Family Tree Anita Olsen AG
This class will teach methods for solving problems with incorrect data in Family Tree.

Wednesday, Jan 14 - 6:00 p.m. Family History Through DNA Studies Julie Johnson

Thursday, Jan 15 - 10:00 a.m. Legacy 8 User Group--Beginning Anita Olsen AG
This class teaches the basic features and capabilities of the genealogy data management program Legacy 8. Current and new users are welcome.

Saturday, Jan 17 - 10:00 a.m. Using FamilySearch Family Tree - Part 2 Susan LaVelle
This is the second week of a 3-week class that will teach the fundamentals of using Family Tree.

Tuesday, Jan 20 – 6:00 p.m. Audio Files in Family Tree Michael Palmer
One of the new features of Family Tree is the ability to add audio files. This class teaches how to make audio recordings and also capture clips from existing recordings to upload to Family Tree.

Wednesday, Jan 21 - 6:00 p.m. Finding Your Family in the Southern US Julie Johnson
This class teaches the fundamentals of finding your family in the Southern United States.

This class teaches the basic features and capabilities of the genealogy data management program RootsMagic. This group meets the 4th Wednesday of every month. All levels of experience are welcome.

This class teaches the basics of getting started and using Family Search and other online programs. This is the basics for anyone just beginning or needing a refresher course.

Ancestry.com is a powerful internet site that is a major factor in Family History Research. Learn how to navigate this site and learn the "ins and outs" of researching.

Wednesday, Feb 25 - 10 a.m. - RootsMagic Software Beginning Class, taught by Vicki Rasmussen
Roots Magic is a data management program to record your family records, histories and pictures. This class teaches the basics in using this program.

Wednesday, Feb 25 - 6:00 p.m. - Scanning Workshop, taught by Michael Palmer
This workshop offers hands-on help with scanning photos and documents and uploading them to Family Tree. Bring several photos or documents, a flash drive, and your FamilySearch log-in info.

Thursday, Feb 26 - 1:00 p.m. - Getting Started with your Research, taught by Linda Peterson
Repeat of Feb 17 class.

Thursday, Feb 26 - 6:00 p.m. - RootsTech Highlights, taught by Anita Olsen
Come learn about all of the new ideas that were presented at the RootsTech conference.

Tuesday, Mar 3 - 6:00 p.m. - Ancestry.com Workshop, taught by Sue LaVelle
This is a follow-up class from the week before. This will be hands-on practical use of Ancestry.com.
