Parish History

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson, described Brixton like this:

BRIXTON, or Brighstone, a village and a parish on the SW coast of the Isle of Wight. The village stands on a brook, ¾ of a mile NNE of Grange chine, and 6 SW of Newport; and has a post office under Newport and an inn. The parish includes also the hamlet of Limerston, and part of the hamlet of Chilton.[1].
