Cheyenne and Arapaho

History

The Cantonment Agency was established in 1902 from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Agency. In 1927, the Cantonment Agency, Seger Agency, and Red Moon Agency were all merged back into the Cheyenne and Arapaho Agency, which today is the Concho Agency[1].

Records

Microfilm copies of ...Narrative and Statistical Reports... for the Cantonment Agency, 1907-1927, are included in National Archives Microcopy M1011, Roll 8[2], available in the National Archives system and in the collections of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, beginning with their microfilm number 1724226. Reports for some years are missing.

Annual Indian Census Rolls were taken at this agency for 1904 thru 1927. These rolls have been microfilmed by the National Archives as part of their Microcopy Number M595, rolls 16 and 17.[3] Copies of these records are also available at the National Archives, their Regional Archives, and at the Family History Library and its family history centers (their microfilm numbers 573862-573863). These census rolls are also available online at Ancestry.com's subscription web site.
