CARISBROOKE (St. Mary) a parish, in the liberty of West Medina, Isle of Wight division of the county of Southampton, 1 mile (W. S. W.) from Newport with the hamlet of Bowcombe, and part of that of Chillerton, also the chapel of St. Nicholas, built in 1738. There are places of worship for Independents, Baptists, Wesleyans, and etc..
