Castle Creek valley is about fifteen miles long and one to two miles wide, watered by Castle Creek, in north-central Owyhee County, south of Oreana.

Directories

A directory of the residents and businesses of Silver City in 1898 is included in A Historical, Descriptive and Commercial Directory of Owyhee County, Idaho. A copy of the directory is in the Idaho State Archives, the Owyhee County Museum, and other Idaho libraries.[1] It is also available on microfilm through the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and its many family history centers, and online.

A list of the residents of the Castle Creek area in 1898 has been abstracted from the directory and is available online at the Owyhee County GenWeb site.

The Gem State Rural's 1918-19 Farm Directory of Owyhee County Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon is available online. It lists landowners by town, including those owning land in these two counties, but residing elsewhere. The amount of acreage owned, the location of the land, and a list of crops raised on each farm is also included. The resident land owners of the Castle Creek area are listed on pages 33-34.

History

Castle Creek valley is a farming area in north-central Owyhee County. The valley is about fifteen miles long and one to two miles wide and is watered by Castle Creek. It is primarily devoted to stock raising and farming[2].

Castle Creek was also a census precinct from 1890 thru 1932. It was organized from part of Sinker Creek precinct between 1890 and 1900[3] and was annexed to Oreana precinct in 1932[4].
