Chile Social Life and CustomsEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
To validate your genealogical research, it is necessary for you to have a basic understanding of the society in which your ancestors lived. Knowing the daily routine, the religion, the customs and traditions will help you appreciate your ancestor and the timeframe in which he or she lived. That information is of particular importance if you are interested in writing your family history. The methods of research and genealogical records vary in each area and in each timeframe, and are influenced by the local customs and traditions.
The Family History Library has compiled a few sources of information that attempt to explain the relationship of the social life and customs of Chile. You can obtain many books with this type of information at most university libraries, as well as in public libraries.
An English handbook covering the social life and customs of Chile is:
- Weil, Thomas E. and others. Area Handbook for Chile. Washington: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1969. (FHL book 983 H6a.)
