Cleaveland was the original 1841 to 1887 spelling used for present-day Cleveland County. In 1887 the spelling was changed, and the modern spelling adopted.[1][2] The 1841-1887 records of the old-spelling Cleaveland County are now found in repositories of (modern-spelling) Cleveland County, North Carolina.
