The following have significant cemetery listings for Colorado State:
  • cocemproject.org - Request data searches from hundreds of cemeteries' records from throughout the State of Colorado. This is a state and private sponsored project to index and digitize all cemetery records to get the highest level of accuracy. It is estimated that a public search will be available readily in November of 2014. The record search also includes graves without headstones, and cemeteries which have not been documented as of yet. From a Summer 2014 Newsletter, the project suggests that you signup for an account if you would like to stay up to date on when the Public Database will be available.
  • Findagrave.com Search for names at Find A Grave. Enter at least a last name then click Search. Can narrow by first names or dates.
    • This site frequently has tombstone images.
    • List of cemeteries statewide for cemeteries in their database
        • Go to Find A Grave Home page, click Search for a cemetery, select the state (Colorado), then select from the county list, and press Search.
      • Click on the number below Interments for a cemetery to access names. Click Records arrow to scroll through to the end.

  • BillionGraves Replace the Smith surname in the pale orange form and click Search.


The Daughters of the American Revolution Collection contains tombstone inscriptions from Colorado cemeteries. This collection is described in the "Genealogy" section.

The names, locations, and addresses of cemeteries in the state and references to published and unpublished transcripts are found in Kay R. Merrill, Colorado Cemetery Directory (Denver: Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies, 1985; Family History Library book 978.8 V34cc; film 1597842 item 4). The cemeteries can be accessed online at http://www.interment.net/us/co/index.htm.

Transcripts from some small cemeteries in 33 counties have been published in Lela O. McQueary, Colorado Cemetery Inscriptions (Englewood, Colorado: Kay R. Merrill, 1985; Family History Library book 978.8 V3m; fiche 6087257).
