FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

Hours of Operation:

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays:  7:00pm-9:00pm
  • Closed the 3rd Wednesday of every month for training
  • Fridays:  11:00am-3:00pm
  • Saturday:  10:00am-2:00pm
  • Call (1-402-215-5340) if you would like an appointment during non-business hours.

Holiday Schedule:

Closed Holidays or when the weather closes the Omaha/Council Bluffs school systems.  If in doubt, please call Beverly at 402-215-5340.

Class Schedule

Staff Training Meetings

Staff Training is held the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 7 pm to 8:30 pm except November and December.  Anyone with a family history position is welcome!

Center Resources


  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog.
  • Bert Eugene McKeeman Navy Mothers Club 282 of Council Bluffs Iowa:  Seven (7) record books belonging to this Club were left with the Center because nobody wanted them and only 2 members of the club were left.  The first record book has a beautifully hand-tooled cover.  These books begin in 1942 and go untill a little after 2000.

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions. 

Hardware and Equipment

  • Four computers with wide screens
  • Three computers with double screens
  • Two multi-tasking printers (prints, copys, scans to computer, etc.)
  • One digital imaging system (reads microfilm and microfiche)
  • and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!!!

Volunteer at the Center

Volunteers are needed for all shifts!  If there is a time you would like to volunteer, but the Center is not open, please contact Beverly and discuss it with her!
