Military Medals

Awards and decorations can aid in obtaining additional information on one's ancestral soldier. Each of the above ribbons, medals and clasps stand for specific campaigns and outstanding service to their country. By learning what those campaings are, one can narrow down the service time period and also locate the paperwork behind the award. That paperwork will show the regiment and service areas which can lead to locating additional information on that ancestor and their family.

The above medals were awarded for service during World War 1 (Western Front) and World War II (Burma Campaign) From left to right:
