History

The Fallon Day School was established in 1908 near Fallon, Nevada. The school superintendent was also assigned the duties of an agent for a small group of Paiute Indians. It also supervised the Lovelocks School after 1912. The school and subagency were placed under the Walker River Agency in 1925 and ceased to operate as independent jurisdictions.[1]

Records

A few records of the Fallon Subagency are in the Pacific Regional Archives of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in San Francisco[2], including the following:

  • Some day school administrative files, 1913-1920
  • Other administrative records, 1911-1937

Annual Indian Census Rolls were taken at this agency for 1909 thru 1924. These rolls have been microfilmed by the National Archives as part of their Microcopy Number M595, roll 104.[3] Copies of these records are also available at the National Archives, their Regional Archives, and at the Family History Library and its family history centers (their microfilm number 575796). These census rolls are also available online at Ancestry.com's subscription web site.

Microfilm copies of ...Narrative and Statistical Reports... for the Fallon Subagency, 1910-1920, are included in National Archives Microcopy M1011, Roll 36[4], available in the National Archives system and in the collections of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, beginning with their film number 1724254.
