Parish History

'FINCHLEY St. Mary, the ancient parish, has its origins from at least the 13th century; by the 19th century was in the poorlaw union of Barnet, Finsbury division of the hundred of Ossulstone, County of Middlesex, and was 7 miles northwest of London.'[1]  Chapels also were built at Whetstone St John the Apostle (1836), in East Finchley (Holy Trinity), St Paul's Long Lane and All Saints, Durham Rd, North Finchley (Christ Church)--which see all.

'Chapels for Independents (Congregationalists) - one in 1815 and one in 1865; and Wesleyans have also been built.'[2]
