Germans from Russia Handwriting
Many documents about Germans from Russia will be written in old gothic handwriting which is different from the Roman script familiar to most English-speaking genealogists, or in Russian Cyrillic which has an alphabet closer to Greek.
For information about and examples of old German script and type see the "Handwriting" page of the Germany Wiki article.
Russian Cyrillic block letters are shown in the "Language and Languages" page.
For examples of Cyrillic italic font click here. Dramatically different letters are highlighted in yellow.
For examples of Cyrillic cursive (handwritten script) click here.
