FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.


We do not have regular hours any more but we can serve you by appointment.  The center is spacious, comfortable, and equipped to help you find your ancestors.

Collections

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.

Hardware and Equipment

  • We have 3 computers with internet connections for use along with 1 film reader, 1 fiche reader, and one copier (for copying microfilm).  We also have a limited number of films on hand for some Michigan counties:  Barry, Kent, Allegan, Wayne, St. Joseph and a few German and Canary Island filmes.  Check out the sources available through the FHC Portal like Ancestry.com and Footnote.com etc.

Other Local Sources:

The Hastings Public Library also has films in their Genealogy Room upstairs.  The County Court House is located nearby downtown Hastings as well.  Many cemeteries are located around the area and many of them can be found digitized on
