HAYTON (St. Peter), a parish, in the union of East Retford, North Clay division of the wapentake of Bassetlaw, N. division of the county of Nottingham, 3 miles (N. E. by N.) from East Retford. On the west, at the distance of about one and a half mile, is the hamlet of Tiln in which was a church, long since gone to decay. The Wesleyans have a place of worship.[1]
