The "Index to Compiled Military Service Records of Volunteer Soldiers Who Served during Indian Wars and Disturbances, 1815–58" (NARA M629) contains index cards to compiled service records of volunteer soldiers who served in various Indian wars or participated in the quelling or solving of
Indian disturbances or problems from 1815 to 1858. The records of the Mexican War (1846-1848) are not included in this collection. This index includes the soldier’s name, rank, and unit along with the name of the war or disturbance.[1]
