Parish History

ISLINGTON (St. Philip Arlington Square), aparish, in the parliamentary borough of Finsbury, Finsbury division of the hundred of Ossulstone, county of Middlesex, 1½ mile (N.) from London. A districtchurch was created in the year 1858. There are places of worship for Independents, Wesleyans, Presbyterians, and Baptists, one for a congregation professing the principles of the late Edward Irving, and a spacious Roman Catholic chapel.[1]

St Philip Arlington Square, Islington was created as a district church in the year 1858. It lay within the civil parish boundaries of St Mary Islington.
