The Italy, Prato, Civil Registration (State Archive), 1866-1923 collection is available only to members of the supporting organization, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This collection contains civil registration (stato civile) of births, marriages, and deaths within the custody of the State Archive of Prato (Archivio di Stato di Prato). Includes supplemental documents (allegati); residency records (cittadinanze); ten-year indexes (indici decennali); and marriage banns (pubblicazioni). The modern provinces represented in the collection include the following: Firenze, Grosseto, and Prato. Availability of records is largely dependent on time period and locality. The collection covers the years 1866 to 1923.

How to Use the Record
Search the Collection
To search this collection, it would be helpful to know the following information: To begin your search, it is helpful to know the name and some other identifying information such as the birth place or birth date.
For a collection that is searchable by name:
Fill in the requested information in the initial search page. This search will return a list of possible matches. Compare the information about the ancestors in the list to what you already know about your ancestors to determine if this is the correct family or person. You may need to look at several images and compare the information about the individuals listed in those images to your ancestors to make this determination. Keep in mind:
- There may be more than one person in the records with the same name.
- You may not be sure of your own ancestor’s name.
- Your ancestor may have used different names or variations of their name throughout their life.

⇒ Select the appropriate “Registro e L'Anno” which takes you to the images.
