These Electoral Registers generally contain the following information:

• Name of registered person
• Date and place of birth
• Occupation
• Arrival Date
• Residence
• Names of family members

How to Use the Record

To search this collection, it would be helpful if you knew the following information:

• Name of ancestor
• Approximate year and place of residence
• Municipality

Search the Collection

To search the collection image by image select "Browse through images" on the initial collection page
⇒ Select the appropriate “Municipality”
⇒ Select the appropriate “Record Type, Date Range and Volume” which will take you to the images.

Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine if the image relates to them. You may need to look at several images and compare the information about the individuals listed in those images to your ancestors to make this determination.

Using the Information

If you have found the information you are looking for:

• You can take the residence at the time of the register and look through the censuses to find their family, if they have any.
• You can look at the arrival date and look through the naturalization papers for the place of birth, name of spouse, names of children, and names of parents.

Unable to Find Your Ancestor?

• Look through the indexes for a nickname or a shortened version of the name (i.e. George, Geo.)
• Search the censuses to get a clue of where your ancestors residence is at the time of the election.
