Kangaroo Island Collection
The Library at Kingscote holds a collection of significance to the development of the Kangaroo Island community and economy. The Collection include books, reports, videos, microfilm and emphemera. The items are for in-house reading only and can not to be removed from the Library.
The KI Collection does not include material that duplicates items held by
- Hope Cottage Museum, Kingscote,
- Parndana Soldiers Settlers Museum or
- Penneshaw Maritime Museum.
Lawes, Win. Take Me Back to Kagaroo Island. Names of Pioneers from England to Kangaroo Island, to now what is known as Victor Harbor, South Australia. Dates covered 1840-1877, gives christian name, surname where the people were from their spouse, number of children, the name of the ship the year, and sometimes a sentence of history of the family. These Settlers came from all over England, and the surnames are Davies, Field, Gibson, Smith, Stimson, Hearle, Rumbelow, Barton, Cakebread, Ewen, Robinsons, Neighbour, Grimble, Hyde, Tugwell, Dyson, King, Carter, Battye, Turner and Jagger.
