County Clerk has birth and death records from 1870,
marriage records from 1872 and military discharge records.
Trial Court has divorce and court records from 1874 and probate records.

History
Parent County
1840--Lake County was created 1 April 1840 from Mackinac County. Formerly Aishcum County, until the name was changed to Lake County 8 March 1843. It was attached to Ottawa, Mason, and Newaygo Counties prior to organization 1 May 1871. County seat: Baldwin [2]
