  • Agate Beach, This is a descriptive name. The sea beach between Newport and Yaquina Head has long been noted for the very fine agates found here. Dealers in Newport make a speciality of cutting and polishing these stones. Some fossilized softball-sized clam shells are found in the wall of eroded hardened sandwall.
