Contents

First Units

  • 1st Regiment, French Brigade, Louisiana Militia (Confederate)
    1st Regular Infantry Regiment, formerly the 1st Louisiana Militia Infantry, entered Confederate service in February, 1861. Only 39 men were present in November, 1864, and half that number were included in the surrender of the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.
  • 1st Regiment, Louisiana Cavalry (Confederate)
    Organized at Baton Rouge September 11, 1861. Participated in Shiloh. Fought at Perrysville, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge. The regiment surrendered May 5, 1865 near Gainesville, Alabama.

Second Units

  • 2nd Regiment, Louisiana Cavalry (Confederate)
    2nd Calvary Regiment [also called the 33rd Regiment Partisan Rangers] was formed in September 1862 near Donaldsville. Some men were paroled at Natchitoches, while others surrendered at Opelousas and Washington, Louisiana.
  • 2nd Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    2nd Infantry Regiment [also called Louisiana Zouaves] was formed at Camp Moore in Tangipahoa, Louisiana, during the spring of 1861. Only 3 officers and 41 men surrendered in April, 1865.

Third Units

  • 3rd Louisiana Brigade(Confederate)
    3rd (Harrison's) Cavalry Regiment was organized during the winter of 1863-1864. Later it skirmished in various conflicts and disbanded in May, 1865.
