Libraries and Archives
The Mississippi Department of Archives and History has an extensive collection of newspapers. The Family History Library does not have copies of Mississippi newspapers, but abstracts have been published in genealogical periodicals.
Newspaper Directory
The U.S. Newspaper Directory, 1690-Present is a national directory from the Library of Congress of over 140,000 newspaper titles. The directory provides a list of libraries from around the country that have the newspapers in their collections.
Another directory to help you locate Mississippi newspapers is Mississippi Newspapers, 1805-1940: A Preliminary Union List. (Jackson, Mississippi: Mississippi Historical Records Survey, 1942; Family History Library film 1036521 item 16).
