History
Brief Timeline
- 1533: contact with Spanish
- 1609-1610: conflict with Spanish
- 1610: Peace treaty with Spanish
- 1740: Yaqui revolt
- 1767: Drive out Jesuits
- 1880: Mexican force removal of Yaqui, sending them to work on plantaions in the Yucatan,
- 1884-1910: Porfirio Diaz'a regime, the Yaqui population reduced from 20,000 to 3,000- many removed to Arizona some joined Pancho Villa in the Mexican Revoultion against Diaz
