Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh City Deaths
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is publishing online death indices for a limited number of years. This includes indices for the city of Pittsburgh. Beginning with the 1906 index, successive indices are released up to 50 years prior to the current date. For example, in 2013 the 1962 death index was released. Each year, one more index will be released. The death indices are organized by year and then by initial letter of the surname. They can be accessed here. The instructions for using the indices can be found here.

The Pittsburgh Mapping and Historic Site Viewer, found here, is a unique mapping system that overlays Pittsburgh maps from 1835 through 1939. The map data was obtained from the University of Pittsburgh's Digital Research Library. Using this viewer, the user can search for a landmark or address and view that location over time by moving a slider.
