Prien is a census-designated place (CDP) in Calcasieu Parish, located to the south of Prien Lake.

History
The lake was originally called Little Lake. Because Cyprien Duhon settled on the land adjacent to Little Lake, the lake became known as Cyprien's Lake. The name was later shortened to Prien Lake, using the last two syllables of Cyprien's first name.
