FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

The Sandpoint Family History Center is here to assist those searching for their ancestors.  Please feel free to come in and ask questions or learn how to search for your ancestors.  We have computers with Internet programs, Microfilm and Microfiche from places around the world, and Books to assist in a variety of research.  We also have classes available different times of the year.  Our staff is ready and excited to help you find your ancestors. 

We are located in Sandpoint and serve the Sandpoint, Westmond, and Clark Fork areas and everyone is welcome!

We are having a fun and informative FAIR planned to help bring your family closer to your ancestors. EVERYONE is INVITED! Bring the WHOLE FAMILY (dress is casual) - your NEIGHBORS too! The fair will be ALL DAY.

NO PRE REGISTERING - NO FEE - Stop in for a few minutes or spend the whole day. Let this experience take you back to the fun days of the County Fair.

- Finding your Family - Learn how to get started with genealogy

- World Wide Service Projects - Learn how you can use and help with free programs

- Digital Connections - learn how to use social media for genealogy

- Family Reunion - how to organize a reunion for your family

- Writing a Family History - See how easy it can be to write your family history

- Family Home Evening - Learn some fun things to do with your family

- Live Photography - Get an old fashioned picture taken with your family

- Kid's Corner - Some activities for children (games, coloring, etc.)

- Snacks - Enjoy Homemade Rootbeer and Popcorn

 HANDS-ON (with knowledgeable staff to assist you on Genealogy Computer Programs)

- Family Search - A simple program provided FREE to help you find your family

- Indexing - See how easy it is to participate in a World Wide Service Project

- 3rd Party Programs - By coming into the Family History Center, you will be able to use genealogy programs for FREE that normally have a charge.

  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog.
  • We have over 1500 films, thousands of books and fiche all dealing with research from all parts of the world.
