Seward (old) County
Not to be confused with the present-day Seward County, Kansas.
- 3 June 1861 the former Godfrey County, Kansas name was changed to the old Seward County, Kansas.
- 26 February 1867 the former old Seward Countyname was changed to Howard County.
- 11 Mar 1875 Howard County was split into Elk and Chautauqua counties.[1] [2]
Originally Godfrey (later named Seward (old)) County was attached to Allen County for civil and military purposes. Godfrey County was never organized.[3]
