The Sangamon Valley Collection at the Lincoln Library includes photographs, city and county directories, high school yearbooks, city and county documents, long-range planning reports and surveys, published histories, maps and more. The collection includes the Sangamon County Obituary File, an extensive card file of obituaries and other local information organized by surname. There is no on-line index to the card file, but library volunteers will locate and mail copies of obituaries for a nominal fee. Search an on-line index of events mentioned in the State Journal-Register and Illinois Times beginning going back to 1981.
