SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD (St. Mary), a parish, in the union of Mansfield, N. division of the wapentake of Broxtow and of the county of Nottingham, 3½ miles (W. S. W.) from Mansfield with the hamletof Hucknall-under-Huthwaite. There are places of worship for General and Particular Baptists, Independents, Primitive Methodists, and Wesleyans. Near the village is Mapple Wells.

The Church of St Katharine Sutton in Ashfield dates from the 12th century and has been designated a grade I listed building by English Heritage British listed building
