Talk:Cecil County, MarylandEdit This Page

From FamilySearch Wiki

Another discrepancy in the information for parent county.  Handybook staets Cecil County was created from Kent County. How do you want to source the information?

Don't rely on that book as the sole source. You learned hard way about a county in Utah. Quoting in entirety - MOST of the area comprising present-day Cecil County was originally attached to Kent County UNTIL 1659 when it was attached to Baltimore County from which Cecil County was created in 1674, taking southern portion of county from Kent County in 1674. - north part of Cecil County was still attached to Baltimore County long before Harford County was created in 1773 from Baltimore County. Elkton, the county seat was located in southern part, along the northern edge of the south portion of Cecil County, hence the confusion to you. dsammy 20:03, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
