Talk:Germany Probate RecordsEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
Last week I looked at some films described as probate records from towns in Hessen-Nassau in the Family History Library. In one case the film actually contained a volume titled "updated land tax register". The other set mostly consisted of inventories of the estate left by deceased married women who had left children. At least in some cases the inventories were made because the husband had decided to marry again. The remainder were applications by people to be allowed to handle their own property, mostly young persons barely of legal age. In five rolls of film I saw three wills, all made by persons who left no children.
I think it would be helpful to add some of these examples to the pages dealing with lesser-used record types. It would give readers a better idea of what they may actually encounter as they do research. Any thoughts on that?
