Talk:New York, Kings County Estate Records (FamilySearch Historical Records)Edit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
These images were digitally obtained from the King's County Surrogate's Court Clerk. Thre are no corresponding Family History Library microfilms so there are no milcrofilm numbers in the Family History Library Catalog.
These are the actual images so you don't need to contact anyone for images, just follow the link at the top of the article. The link is the title of the collection in the FamilySearch box. It looks like this
|This article describes a collection of historical records available at FamilySearch.org.|
Access the records: New York, Kings County Estate Records .
This link will take you to the index search page. Select the appropriate name from the index hit list. It will bring up the individual's information and the image.
Best of luck with your search. NBT

Is the plan to add the digital copies of these records, or should we contact Kings County to get copies of the files?
- Looks like the index was not created from any of the microfilmed collections at Family History Library. I could not find any matching set under Kings County or New York City in the Family History Library catalog at all, and even more - the indexes contained no references to Family History Library film numbers if any. dsammy 15:31, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
I'm having the same problem wondering how to see the original record.
Yes, I would also like to know if digital copies of these records will become available on FamilySearch, and if so, a rough estimate of when? If not, where is this digital folder located and how can we find the records?? It is nice to see this indexed but it is not of much use if we can't find the information contained on the original. Does anyone know where these records are? Thank you!
I have just found out that these images were captured digitally and no microfilms ever existed that match this index. It would be good if the article reflected this and discussed any future plans to add the images.
If we need to contact Kings County, does anyone know exactly who to contact and what it may cost? Or where to go to request the records in person?
