The following have significant cemetery listings for Texas State:
  • Findagrave.com Search for names at Find A Grave. Enter at least a last name then click Search. Can narrow by first names or dates.
    • This site frequently has tombstone images.
    • List of cemeteries in their database.
      • 1) Select the state, 2) pick a county, and 3) click Search. (There are too many cemeteries for a statewide list.)
        • Tip: To switch to a different county, click Cemetery Lookup under Actions at the left.
      • When you have a list, click on the number below Interments for a cemetery to access names. Click Records arrow to scroll through to the end.

  • Lists of the cemeteries in each county that are included in the above collections are in Sharry Crofford-Gould, Texas Cemetery Inscriptions: A Source Index. San Antonio, Texas: Limited Editions, 1977. FHL book 976.4 A1 no. 56
  • Some of the earliest burials in Texas are recorded in Mrs. Malcolm B. Biggerstaff, Four Thousand Tombstone Inscriptions from Texas, 1745-1870: Along the Old San Antonio Road and the Trail of Austin's Colonists. Oklahoma City: Oklahoma Historical Society, 1952. FHL book 976.4 V3b
  • The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) collection also contains tombstone inscriptions from many Texas cemeteries. This collection is described in the "Genealogy" article in this Wiki.
