Ohio furnished 1,759 Officers and 24,521 enlisted men for the War of 1812.[1]

  • 3rd Regiment Ohio Militia, had 56 companies, p. 68-86
  • Unassigned Infantry or Companies of Unknown Regiments, had 185 companies, p. 86
  • Spies, p. 123, 155
  • Assigned to U.S. Infantry, had 5 Companies, p. 156-157
  • Mounted Infantry, had 25 Companies, p. 147-155
  • Cavalry, had 13 troops, p. 145-147 (or only 10?)

Companies in the 1st Regiment with the Counties of Origin

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
