Discussion items

Rearrange the navbar

Should items within a section of the navbar be rearranged to encourage more use of some of the features?  e. g. should the 'User Group' link be moved to the second item from the top of the 'Community' area of the navbar?

Edit Conflict message

The Edit Conflict page says: "Someone else has changed this page since you started editing it. The upper text area contains the page text as it currently exists. Your changes are shown in the lower text area. You will have to merge your changes into the existing text. Only the text in the upper text area will be saved when you press 'Save page'." What it should say is "Someone else has changed this page since you started editing it. The upper text area contains the page text as it currently exists. Your changes are shown in the lower text area. You will have to copy and paste your changes into the existing text in the upper text area. Only the text in the upper text area will be saved when you press 'Save page'."   Ritcheymt 21:03, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Hold off on changing portals

Please hold off on changing portal pages that use the portal template (like Portal:Delaware- has been un-portaled Laralee 22:17, 6 March 2010 (UTC)) to "un-portal" pages that layout boxes using tables (like the Maryland page) or columns (like England) for layout. David Crowther is working on an elegant code solution that will rid us of the problems associated with the portal template and also add functionality that will make system-wide changes easier. Preserving your changes against timeout loss

Systems with timeouts sometimes can cause us to lose our work when we try to save after the timeout has occurred. There are two ways to prevent your work from getting lost. Before clicking Save, click the Wikitext button. Then do one of the steps below:

1. Highlight, copy and paste into an editing program such as Wordpad, Textpad, or Notepad.

2. Hold CTRL and press A to highlight the whole section, then CTRL and press C to copy, CTRL and press V in one of those programs to save to backup.

After doing one of these, click Save in the wiki editor. If by some chance your edits aren't saved, you'll still have a copy of them that you can paste into the article after clicking Edit again. dsammy 20:18, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
