To all FamilySearch Wiki Contributors: An apology is in order...

By way of introduction, my name is Ben Bennett and I’ve recently joined the FamilySearch team as the product manager for the Wiki and Forums. Put simply, my job is to ensure that your experience, as contributors and users of the Wiki and Forums is excellent. To this end, an apology is in order.
As you know, we recently implemented a new user ID/sign in process for the FamilySearch Wiki. As we implemented this new system, I personally heard from many of you. You shared with me problems that were occurring for you as you tried to sign in, edit or do other things that resulted in lost work, lost time and frustration for you, our key contributors and users. Please accept my sincere apology for the poor performance and poor experience associated with the Wiki during the past few weeks. Please also accept my commitment that the FamilySearch team will learn from this experience and do all that we can to prevent situations like this in the future. To this end, I wanted to share with you ...CONTINUE

Moderator/Adopter issues coming to a vote

As you probably already know, FamilySearch launched an Adopt-a-Page program at the Federation of Genealogical Societies conference over the summer. Many groups are signing up to adopt a page. We need your help in order to resolve some important questions about the relative roles that Moderators and Adopters ought to play and how they can work together. These questions and discussions are on the new FamilySearch Wiki Contributors' Corner forum. We are going to hold a vote on these issues by year's end, and the resolutions will change the roles Moderators and Adopters play, so please visit the forum and add your thoughts. Thanks! Language userboxes

Hi James, I'm not sure if you have seen my reply to you question on the Userboxes/Gallery talk page. Spurred on by your request for language userboxes for non-native speakers I have created a new template {{UBX-lang}} which can be used to show different levels of ability. I also presented this at the community meeting held yesterday, where other suggested that speaking a language was not the only skill they would like to display. I therefore made further changes to the template that allows users to indicate reading and writing ability in addition to speaking. If you have any other feedback about this Userbox I would be grateful to hear from you. --Steve 23:57, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Pima County, Arizona Cemeteries article updates

Spotted your work on Pima County, and found a spelling error when I originally put in the Pima County, Arizona Cemeteries article.  I spelled 'Pima' as 'Pims'.  Just transferred the article content from the article with the misspelled county name to the one with the correct spelling, and placed the delete template on the article with the misspelled name.

I've also got several photos in the images area including one for All Faiths Cemetery, and several others.  Got them while in Tucson over a year back.  They were approved about 1 December 2009, give or take a day or two.  JamesAnderson 03:45, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Utah Moderator

Hi James, It's interesting, there wasn't a moderator for Utah, then all of the sudden there are a couple. The other day I told Fran Jensen that I'd be the moderator for Utah until she found a permanent one. She put me on there, then today I received an email from her saying that she had someone. I am a moderator for Iowa and Ohio so I told her to just take me off of Utah. I am never on skype. I took it off when I finished my mission. I work and so I'm not at my computer at any time that others would be on skype. Thank you for contacting me. Arizona and Utah are lucky to have you. Familyjournals 03:49, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

County Headings for Utah

Hi, James! We’ve been appreciating the discussions and decisions regarding headings on the county pages for New York, Illinois and others. We want to adopt many of those changes and adapt some specifically to Utah.

Will you please review the page for county headings in Utah and make comments on the discussion page? WikiProject Utah County Headings

Some volunteers for WikiProject Utah have already begun adapting the county pages. Your great suggestions will be implemented later, and we need to move now to prepare for a big push in January. Making your comments on the discussion page will allow both progress and improvement. Thank you, AdkinsWH 14:49, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Internet Archive Soundex

Hi James -- I appreciate your tip in the Wiki Contributors Meeting about U.S. Census Soundex Cards at Internet Archive. I've added all the cards I could find to the census charts. Example: Pennsylvania Census (1880 and 1900). Thanks! Murphynw 19:50, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Sub-page article to Arizona

I would like to add a sub-page article to the Arizona article. I read in the Help section that this feature is turned OFF by default. If this is so, how can I get it turned ON so I can create this sub-page? Sabwoo 23:26, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
