Italy Caserta page
Hi, You've marked this page for deletion. Italy, Caserta, Civil Registration (FamilySearch Historical Records)/Known Issues - but it still has a page that links to it. That will need to be removed before I can delete it. Portugal, Aveiro Passport Registers
First, Thank you for your work making the WIKI better. I wish I knew more so that I could help more. I have a question that maybe you can help me with. What is the reasoning behind putting corrections to the WIKI pages under known issues rather than changing the text of the WIKI page, like in the case of correcting information about the ability of viewing the images in Portugal, Aveiro Passport Registers. The general public is going to read the text on the page, they are not going to know to check the Known issues link way at the bottom of the page. I am a FHC director and I spent about an hour on the phone today with a total of 6 support missionaries, trying to find out why these images are not available to users of our FHC computers because the WIKI article indicated that they should be. Finally, I found someone who could tell me that the correct information was under known issues. As a FHC director, I interact with patrons, the majortiy of which are non-members. I have no problem explaining that some images are limited to viewing to LDS members because of the terms of the contracts with records owners. I need, however, for the information on FamilySearch.org to be accurate, so that people don't come in to our center expecting access to images that they have to a LDS account to see regardless of what computer they are using. Thanks for getting back to me. The following wording, to me, seems misleading:
Registers collection is available to the Family History Library, FamilySearch Centers, AND to members of the supporting organization, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The images can be viewed at a FamilySearch Center near you.
\This sounds to me like if patrons come into a FamilySearch Center, they will have access online to the images. The clarification about needing to order films, if available, should be in the image availablity statement. I say, if available, because many of these images are not on the microfilm.
I donb't think the majority of people using the WIKI are going to check Known Issues when looking for information. I was surprised to find information there for the general public. I thought it was an internal housekeeping tool only.
