WHITGIFT (St. Mary Magdalene), a parish, in the union of Goole, Lower division of the wapentake of Osgoldcross, W. riding of York; containing, with the chapelry of Swinefleet, and the townships of Ousefleet and Reedness, 2353 inhabitants, of whom 347 are in Whitgift township, 6 miles (S. E.) from Howden. There are places of worship for Independents and Primitive Methodists.
