Parish History

WHIXLEY, a parish, partly in the Lower, and partly in the Upper, division of the wapentake of Claro, W. riding of York; containing, with the townships of Hammerton-Green and Thornville, 946 inhabitants, of whom 594 are in Whixley township, 11 miles (W. N. W.) from York. There is a place of worship for Wesleyans.[1]
