The 11th Virginia was organized at Lynchburg, Virginia, in May, 1861, and accepted into Confederate service in July. Its members were raised in the counties of Campbell, Botetourt, Montgomery, Fauquier, Culpeper, Rockbridge and Alleghany Counties. It was reorganized on 26 April 1862.
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company K (Valley Regulators) - Many men in this Company were from Alleghany and Rockbridge Counties. See FHL book 975.581 H2m for a muster roll of men from Alleghany County.
