1683 November 1 Richmond County was created by the Province of New York from Yorkshire.[1]
1687 Administrative divisions were started which eventually evolved into townships. [2]
1898 January 21 The five boroughs were consolidated into New York City and her county governments were dissolved. Staten Island joined New York City as the Borough of Richmond. [3]
1975 The Borough of Richmond was officially renamed the Borough of Staten Island. [2]
