  1. ↑ Peter Wilson Coldham published a series of books indexing British court records to help find indentured servants, and convicts transported to America. His immigrants in bondage series is indexed at Ancestry.com. Maryland court records may show releases from indenture, convict sentences, or slave manumissions. Some counties have slave registers, and deeds may show slaves sold. Wills (probate records) may also show slave names. Plantation records sometimes list slaves.
