Middle Tennessee county. Established 1796. Part of the pioneer Cumberland Settlements. Formed from Tennessee County, North Carolina[3]

The county is named after "James Robertson (1742–1814), Tennessee state legislator and founder of the Watauga Settlements."[4]

On their website, users can bring up a list of land entries issued in Robertson County, both before and after its land became a part of the state of Tennessee. Years covered: 1785-1802.

Instructions:

Marriages were not officially recorded in Robertson County until 1838, when a law was passed mandating the practice.[11]
