The cemetery is located on US 1 between Meadowridge Road and MD 100. It is across the street from Meadoridge Memorial Park.The street address is 7239 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075.
Rosa Bonheur Memorial Park is an 11-1/2 acre cemetery established as a pet cemetery 1935. The cemetery was actively operated until 2002. The cemetery made national headlines in 1979 when it became the first pet cemetery in the world to allow humans to be buried alongside their pets. Approximately 8,000 animals and humans are buried here. There are at least 24 humans, and perhaps as many as 100, buried at the cemetery.
The cemetery stopped accepting pet or human burials in 2006. Since 2007, the grounds of the Rosa Bonheur Memorial Park have been maintained by local volunteers. Contact the Rosa Bonheur Society, 6400 Baltimore National Pike, Suite # 221, Catonsville, MD 21228.
