Cemetery Resources

The earliest tomb in Virginia with a legible inscription is that of Mrs. Alice Jordan, who died in 1650 in Surry County, Virginia at Four Mile Tree Plantation on the James River.[1]

African Americans typically maintained separate burial grounds.
