FamilySearch Wiki:Link, don’t copyEdit This Page
From FamilySearch Wiki
|This page documents a guideline. It is a generally accepted standard that contributors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense and the occasional exception.|
Any substantive edit to this page should reflect consensus. When in doubt, discuss first on the talk page.
Don’t include listings or complete records, rather, link externally to the source. Don’t include lengthy poems, speeches or other source text. Link to it.
- Main article: Create an external link
It may be tempting to copy vast amounts of public domain text into the wiki. Far better to add a brief quote or summary and then link to the public domain source material, so that researchers can find and benefit from consulting the whole work if needed.
